Richard Allen Hightower Fernley, NV Obituary, Death: Victim Identified in Lyon County Homicide Investigation

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred on June 1, 2026, in Fernley, Nevada, which left 45-year-old Richard Allen Hightower dead.

Authorities confirmed that deputies responded to reports of gunfire and arrived at the scene, where they located Hightower suffering from critical injuries. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators have identified Jeremy Barrett, 40, and James Edward Karol, 44, as suspects in connection with the incident. Both individuals were taken into custody shortly after the shooting and have been charged with Open Murder. Officials confirmed they are currently being held at the Lyon County Jail without bail.
